This is the second in a multi-part series covering perhaps the best example we’ve seen of DIY creativity on a single property. Read part one about hand-made Garden Beds here.
Before there was a housing estate in this area, there was a creek. Part of that creek ran right near the edge of Russell’s property.
He wanted to enhance and restore the space for leisurely outdoor dining and shaded reading while staying true to it’s origins as there were still many of the original plants just over the fence-line.
So he took some raw materials and created a stone water feature planted out with natives, a timber deck and some screening made out of box steel and shade cloth. The area wasn’t complete until he added an rusty iron reed bed feature of course.
Russell reported the night was filled with the wonderful sound of frogs almost as soon as the area was completed and the water was flowing!
Another spectacular project. Doesn’t he make it look easy!
Russell Feldman has literally covered his Torquay property with showpieces that have been hand-made from new and secondhand materials. Many pieces have come from our yard however a lot have also been sourced from country trips and bits and pieces that were being thrown out by friends and family.
